08/26/2021 UPDATE: The incredible Mallory Nuckols is plugging away at t-shirt orders that have already been placed and has indicated that the deadline for t-shirt pre-orders can be extended to Sunday, September 5th! Woohoo! Thank you to everyone who has already gotten their orders in. If you haven’t had a chance to place one yet, you’ve got a little more time. Thank you so much for the extension, Mallory!

Another amazing update to share is that we now have a venue for our Hiking for Hunger Celebration, which will be held the evening of Thursday, September 23rd! The celebration will be held at Highland Brewing in Asheville, NC. BAM! and Hero will arrive around 4:30 pm and will stay until 7:30 pm or so. Please feel free to come and go as you please. If you would like to be present for the shaving of the BAM! beard, we’ll be doing that at 6 pm. For folks who cannot physically attend the celebration, fear not! We will be recording the whole beard removal process and will stream it live on Instagram for your at home viewing pleasure. The video will also be posted after the fact on all of our social media platforms and the website. We’ll send out a reminder post with more details when we are one week out from the celebration. Until then, mark your calendars! We simply can’t wait to see y’all 🙂

HIKING FOR HUNGER T-SHIRTS

These beauties will be screenprinted by hand by the phenomenally talented, local Asheville artist Mallory Nuckols !!! ♥️🥰♥️🥰♥️🥰♥️

Here’s what to do to place your order (two easy peasey steps):

1️⃣ Send us $20 through Venmo (@keekachu) per shirt. If you don’t have Venmo, just send us a message and we can do some troubleshooting! 🙂

2️⃣ Then, send an email to hiking4hunger@gmail.com that includes the following:

🔲 First and Last Name

🔲 Shirt Size

🔲 Number of Shirts in that size

(Repeat steps 2 & 3 for each different size shirt)

🔲 Best way to contact, if other than this email address

🔲 Address if you are not local to Asheville, NC and need your shirt(s) shipped

If you are in or near Asheville, we ask that you pick up your shirt in person. We have scheduled our celebratory gathering in Asheville for the evening of Thursday, September 23rd, and would love to see y’all when you swing by and pick up your shirt(s).

If you are not near Asheville, NC and would need/prefer to have your shirt(s) shipped, please let us know. We may request an additional shipping fee. Be sure to give a valid email address so we can get your mailing address and discuss shipping cost.

Never in our wildest dreams could we have imagined that the Hiking for Hunger project would take off in the way that it did. $29,707.30 … we are so humbled by the compassion and generosity that has led to this number. A number that will make it possible for @manna_foodbank to help provide up to 118,829 meals to people in need in Western North Carolina. Think about that for a second, what that might mean to someone who doesn’t know where their next meal is coming from. For so many people in WNC being served by MANNA, the funds raised through this project will mean more access to healthy, nutritious meals. What that is is life changing.

This journey has been so deeply enriched for us by all of you- your support of this cause and encouragement along the way has buoyed us and left our hearts so full of determination, inspiration, love. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Thank you for being a part of this- we are all Hiking for Hunger.

There’s still time to donate and have it count towards the Bye Bye BAM! Beard Challenge. We now need just under $300 to reach our goal of $30,000. If we can get there before August 25th, Hero will shave BAM!’s beard off at our celebration party in Asheville, NC in September (date/time/location TBD). $5 of every H4H commemorative tee shirt will be donated to MANNA, so get in your orders before August 25th (longer reminder post about tee shirts coming your way in the next few days).
